Greenwich Mean Time

Symbiotic
Our union
Clamped together
by baby teeth
And the promise of warm milk
Stings...a little
I think
Mind numbingly
With quiet air but a loud cerebral
At the thought of you
Of us
Of we
And they
And them
Of all that comes with no
escape

Not with ankles crooked askew

And subjointed hands
held happy

My eye
dislodges itself
At the sight of your smile
I catch the slip
Indent
With plastic fingers
Acrylic nails
Until we cinch
again
Hip bones off kilter
Though I've laced spinal cords straight
But bowed backs
Had never caused our time
To tilt
At an angle past seven

Always...
At an angle...
Past seven...

Too late
For us
For we
And they
And them
And all that comes with no
escape

Not with neck joints screwed aloose

And eyes stapled
backward

So I just...
Watch
As our world rolls off its axis
I can do nothing
For stars
Are melting
In my lower abdomen
And I am left
With no more
Than the inverted glow
Of the blackest holes
And the weak heartbeat of battered halos
And it feels good
To watch them dwarf

And dwarf

Until we are...

Thin haired
Tight eyed
Hands sundried
And knotted at the knuckle

Waiting
for the day
We buckle and break
Decay
and disintegrate
Into us
And we
And they
And them
And all that comes
With only one
escape...

  1. DAMN! This is otherworldly!

The cadence, the images, the slinking skulking repetition smashing at the inner ear with every hissed syllable. Song like at times, so good was the flow. I dare not quote all of my favourite lines as it would simply be reposting the entire thing, but good god how I envy:

    I can do nothing
    For stars
    Are melting
    In my lower abdomen
    And I am left
    With no more
    Than the inverted glow
    Of the blackest holes
And the weak heartbeat of battered halos
    And it feels good
    To watch them dwarf

It is criminal in its goodness, and I can't quite deal with you having stolen that from the poetic waters before I got there. Absolutely love how you carry a theme in each, the teeth, baby, milk the star, dwarf, holes - such fun to sit and read and then re-read and then re-imagine and twist the words into all of the wonderful images which come to mind.

I know you mentioned more, so please get moving with those, because this is top top drawer and I wanna peek at the rest ASAP!

  2. How the heck do you think I feel?! I've read your latest AT LEAST 10 times, jonesing for my next OT fix! Our creative brains can be very cruel masters. Glad you enjoyed though :)
